Most of this work is created some time between 5am and 7:30am before I head off to work. At that time I've usually had my tea, my mind is fresh and the house is quiet. They're usually on 8 1/2" x 11" paper so that I don't have to photograph them, but rather just scan them. These drawings give me a little lift each day...I can head off to the day job, and feel good that I've done something creative before all the stuff that distracts one piles into my head space.
Matt is studying new media in college and interviewed me for one of his class projects.
In the Spring of 2007 I organized an exhibit titled "New Blood: Exquisite Corpse Near and Far" as a fund raiser for Waterfall Arts in Belfast, Maine. We had local artists create exquisite corpse drawings with their friends and colleagues from away, scanned all of the originals and created this website where anyone could mix and match the various combinations.
I am presently working on several large two-sided painting/constructs for a one person show at the Perimeter Gallery in Belfast, Maine. It will be titled "As High As Heaven" and I have created this blog to visually document my weekly progress on this project.
