Its hard to categorize the work that I created in 2007...I jumped around a bit in terms of style and medium. Suffice to say that I had just come off my first really successful one person show, "Prison Papers" and was looking for the next big concept! A device and motif that arose/reappeared were the "tilted" paintings and the cloud/smoke drawings. Both groups of work fell under the theme of "While Rome Burns", though the paintings were really more focused conceptually on this theme than the drawings. The paintings were truly new and enjoyable for me to create. I was revisiting the "tilted" device that I had started in 1999 and acrylic painting that I had experimented a bit with in 2002. I moved on to other work in 2008 while keeping the smoke/clouds motif intact, but hope to return to the "tilted" device and medium of acrylic on canvas again.
