The year 2009 was dominated by hand drawn text ink and gouache drawings. Most were created primarily for my one person show titled "IMPROBABILITIES". I had often used text in my art, but started these drawings for two reasons: first, my plan to create cascading paintings for this show (stay tuned...!) were foiled and at that time we were anticipating Barack Obama's election. I felt as though he would be elected and that there would be an immediate right wing scream fest as a result! So i began a bunch of drawings that combined hysteria, paranoia, truth, fiction and the improbable. What I enjoyed most about creating this work was both creating and copying text in as simple a way as possible; without much embellishment, composition or painterly rendering.
